Patient Care Services
Kindred Hospitals use a multidisciplinary team approach to care that helps our patients return to the highest quality of life possible. Our patient care services include:
Direct Admission
For your convenience, our hospital accepts direct admissions from Extended Care or Skilled Nursing facilities. Direct admissions take top priority and our objective is to have your care transferred from your facility to our acute care hospital with a minimum of red tape. The goal is to have you in your hospital bed, receiving the quality care you require in as prompt a manner as possible and to facilitate your return to your ECF or SNC as soon as you are able.
Day Surgery
Our Day Surgery Unit offers a convenient, efficient alternative for patients who require elective surgery and is staffed by caring professionals who understand the unique needs of our patients.
Diagnostic Imaging
Skilled and certified technicians operate our imaging equipment, and we make every effort to perform the testing in as prompt and as convenient a manner as possible.
Dialysis
Our interdisciplinary team of dialysis specialists includes physicians, nurses, technicians and dietitians who strive to help you meet the challenges of dialysis with comfort and dignity, and continue to live a full, active life.
Endoscopy
An endoscope is a flexible, lighted tube that, when inserted into the digestive system, transmits images of the inside of the esophagus, stomach and duodenum, allowing the physician to carefully examine the lining of these organs. Our endoscopy team works to make you as comfortable as possible before, during and after the procedure.
Rehabilitation
The rehabilitation process is designed to help strengthen and restore a patient’s ability to live and work as normally as possible after a disabling injury or illness. Contact us for detailed rehab program information.
We feature an experienced staff of licensed professionals who are trained to help each patient reach his or her maximum potential. Our services include Occupational Therapy (functional mobility, sensory stimulation and ADL training); Physical Therapy (therapeutic exercise, wound care, gait training and muscle strengthening); and Speech Pathology (aphasia, motor speech and dysphasia training). We also offer a Restorative Care Program for those patients not yet able to meet criteria for skilled rehabilitation services.
Sleep Disorders
Left untreated, sleep disorders can lead to chronic fatigue and even serious accidents as a result of decreased alertness. Our interdisciplinary team of sleep specialists can analyze sleeping problems and offer restful solutions.
Physicians
Your clinical treatment is the chief responsibility of your physician. As a member of the medical staff, your physician makes the necessary arrangements for laboratory services, X-rays, medications, special diets and any other treatment or service. The medical staff consists of multi-specialty physicians prepared to meet your needs. All physicians are licensed and most are board certified in their specialty.
Nursing
This is the part of the healthcare team with whom our patients will spend the most time. Our nurses recognize that each of our patients is an individual with special needs. The nurses want to know about their patients’ hopes, concerns, past experiences with their illness and any religious or cultural practices, so we can better meet their needs. Nurses are involved in all aspects of physical care. They give input to the doctors and other healthcare team members on the progress of our patients and also ensure their recommendations are carried out.
Nurses also promptly report to the doctor any changes in our patients’ condition. If, for some reason, your loved one has a change in condition, you can be assured that we will keep you informed. We believe that patients and their families are an important part of our healthcare team, and the love, emotional support and encouragement families give play a big role in a patient’s recovery.
Respiratory Care Services
The Respiratory Care Department at Kindred offers a welcome alternative for Respiratory Therapists who wish to develop their skill and career. Kindred is one of two facilities using ventilators with "AI," artificial intelligence. We have a 60-80 percent wean rate. We are proud of our extensive experience in respiratory care treatments, diagnostic procedures, and arterial line insertions. Working closely with nursing, we work with the patients to get them to the highest level of independence possible. Respiratory Therapists are primarily responsible for the management of the ventilator, airway care, the administration of breathing treatments and weaning from the ventilator. In addition, a Respiratory Therapist is available to transport patients to various activities and to provide assistance to the nursing staff.
Materials Management
Materials Management at Kindred Hospital Greensboro is responsible for all non-food and pharmaceuticals purchased for the hospital. This includes the purchase, inventory and distribution of all supplies and equipment. Our key values are customer satisfaction, timeliness and cost effectiveness.
Radiology
The Radiology Department plays an important role in diagnosing many illnesses. Advanced equipment enables the staff to provide a variety of X-rays and diagnostic services. Our Radiology Department provides twenty-four hour coverage.

Food Services and Nutrition Support
Our clinical nutrition services are performed by a Registered Dietitian. The goal of nutrition support is to provide adequate nutrition to improve the patient’s state of nutrition and to facilitate the patient’s overall improved health. The dietitian tailors the feeding modality – from feeding tubes to oral diets – to match the needs of the patient and participates in discussions of the methods and progression of feeding.
Social Services
Kindred’s Social Services Department plays a strong role in the patient’s plan for discharge. This includes assisting with applying for Medicaid, arranging community resources in their areas when ready for discharge, continuing education and family education.
To support the patient during and after hospitalization, a wide range of social services is provided, including counseling, discharge planning, referrals to community agencies, and assistance in securing medical equipment for use at home. Family members can also take part in counseling.
Chaplain Services
There are chaplains on standby to assist you and your family with any needs or concerns. Your minister is also welcome to visit at any time.
